We Now Offer Virtual Training and PD

As many of you already know, one of our favourite things about working with our Indigenous community partners and schools is having the opportunity to visit. We love meeting teachers, administrators, students, and community members. We love seeing the beautiful landscapes, participating in community feasts and celebrations, and getting to know the people we’ll be working with over the year.

However, this year is a bit different. We understand that keeping our partners and their communities safe is paramount and that coming to visit isn’t an option for now. However, we want to ensure that our time together still provides the opportunity for us to get to know each other and for us to learn about your school, your community, and you.

We’ve spent the summer building virtual training programs and professional development sessions that incorporate all the best elements of our in-person training sessions. We spent time exploring how to adapt these sessions to fit with online tools and we adapted our content and our materials to best fit the new options for online delivery.

Our training sessions are designed around attendee participation and use virtual breakout rooms and group activities to encourage dialog and contribution from all attendees.

In addition to our virtual training sessions, we are also offering virtual professional development sessions for teachers. These sessions can address a variety of topics, from integrating technology into classroom instruction, to techniques for hybrid teaching, and incorporating Indigenous perspectives across different subjects. We can also work with you to design a specific session if you have something in mind that will benefit your teachers.
