Since 2024, Learning Bird has worked with the North Slave Métis Alliance (NSMA) to support the development of video resources highlighting Métis culture, values, and land-based initiatives in the Northern region of Great Slave Lake, Northwest Territories.
Working from footage collected by NSMA, we collaborated closely with the Environment Department to shape and produce a series of videos that reflect NSMA’s priorities and programs.
These include promotional and awareness videos that showcase the range of wildlife conservation and land stewardship initiatives led by NSMA, such as the Winter Road Guardianship Program Video.
We also produced videos capturing highlights from NSMA’s annual trip to Thaidene Nëné National Park, documenting community engagement on the land and the importance of maintaining strong connections to this territory.
We are currently working with NSMA to develop a promotional video series called Our Métis Way. Featuring interviews with Métis leaders and community members speaking about North Slave Métis values and identity, these videos help share stories of culture, responsibility, and belonging with both community members and broader audiences.
Through this ongoing collaboration, NSMA continues to strengthen awareness of Métis culture and environmental leadership in the Northwest Territories. We are proud to support the work they do and will continue our partnership by developing educational resources within the region.
